Chapter Twenty-One

“Can everyone keep it down? I want to let you know that this killer is now on the top ten most wanted list. The problem with putting him there is we have no information to go on. We don’t even know if it’s a man or a woman. Shaw and Krumm have been working this case and found little in the way of evidence. The ME can’t give us any clues because the bodies are in wax.” Captain Parnese walked around the squad room looking from one officer to the next. When he stopped at Kissney she sighed. “We’re going to double up the officers on this case. I will need two volunteers to help with the workload.”

Kissney didn’t think they needed to have more officers on the case. The thing was she needed to take some time to get used to the idea of carrying twins. They needed to make sure she rested and ate right. So the extra officers would help take the stress off. She thought having Able around might help as well. The thought of him brought her mind right back to Kane.

“Captain, might I suggest Frost. He’s a beat cop but he did a great job on the Ripper case,” Kissney said with a smile. She knew Frost had been working hard to move up in the ranks.

“That sounds like a great idea, anyone else you can think of? Or should he be paired with Levi?”

“Well, Levi is my partner and I know he’ll go nuts if he can’t make sure I’m alright. So how about Gus?”

“I think Gus is on the case at the high school. Something to do with meth.”

“Well then, bring his partner with him. I believe she’s a female cop. I can’t seem to recall her name. They might be able to take orders at least.”

“Okay then, we’ll bring those two in and see how they work out. Anything else?” Captain Parnese looked around the room and could see the question in all of their eyes.

“Captain, is it true that our little Kissney is going to have a baby?”

Kissney whipped her head around to see Travis laughing at the look of horror on her face.

“Travis, I am pretty sure that has nothing to do with this case,” Captain Parnese glared at the man when he spoke. He could see that Kissney wanted to know who had spilled the beans.

“That is true, Captain, but we’re like a family and we want to know if she is going to add to it?” Travis gleamed as the others roared with laughter and cheer.

“I can’t tell you anything about Sergeant Shaw. If she wants anyone to know her personal life, she’ll tell you.” Captain looked at Kissney and hoped she would say something to them. They would bug her to death until they got the answer they wanted.

Kissney stood and glared at all the men in the room. The few women looked like they wanted to hug her. She wanted to know who had spilled the beans.
